Well she didn’t make cities Merry Christmas it’s Christmas Eve and we are making one of my most delicious soups you’ll ever taste and that is good old potato soup now save some money feed the family and everybody will be super excited to see potato soup all right we’re gonna start peeling our potatoes
First and while your potatoes are boiling you got 12 minutes so while they’re boiling you can get everything else ready so we’re going to fry up a little bacon and uh we are going to get our cream ready to go in our potato soup while these are boiling now you’re going
To bring them to a boil and then you’re going to set a timer so just peel them rinse them good and I’m going to show you about how to chop a mud in just a minute this was one of your earliest videos wasn’t it yes we all love potato soup in
Our house and I’m gonna tell you my mama always just use the paring knife to peel her potatoes and so do I so that’s how we like to peel our potatoes y’all tell us if you’re making a kind of soup for the holidays I’m gonna tell you
Soup is the best thing in the world for this time of year so that you can spend more time with your family than in the kitchen chicken and dumplings there’s chili there’s uh taco soup and uh all those different kinds of soups that you absolutely love tell me what your favorite is
And what you’re cooking all right after you rinse her potatoes you’re going to chop them up and so I typically just slice my potatoes twice and then I chop them that one was really big so I hacked it first but if I can handle them I do it this way
Put it in quarters and then I cut them boy now this is an economical meal you want to feed the family I know potatoes aren’t cheap cheap but if that’s all you’re eating potatoes and the Fixins that’s a pretty good affordable dinner all right so there’s our potatoes you’re
Gonna just cover them with water turn them on we’re gonna do a half tablespoon about a half of a tablespoon and that salt you know I think I had a little more than a half a tablespoon so that’s going to give them a really good flavor if you’ve
Never made your potato soup this way no mama didn’t do it this way but you know who does it this mama so it’s in my recipe book this recipe is in our second cookbook I’m gonna cover them and bring them to a boil and once they start to boil
Then we’re going to set the timer for 12 minutes this is in our let’s see I believe this is our second cookbook potato soup so while that’s uh cook it in your potatoes are getting ready slice up some bacon I’ve got two uh pieces right here I’m gonna chop it up
For one it’ll cook quicker and for another it’s for the soup so of course you don’t have to have it but if you got some it’s good in it all right so I’m just going to chop it up into little squares and we’re going to
Throw it in my iron skillet and let it get nice and toasty Brown so you can just start letting this get good and brown while your potatoes come to a boil and then I want to show you how to get the cream ready for the soup
All right so we’re going to put in a quarter teaspoon of black pepper and a half teaspoon of salt then we’re going to use two tablespoons of cornstarch and this is going to make our potato soup thicken in a few minutes after the potatoes get done
And then you’re going to put in a cup of whoops a good old half and half if you don’t know what half and half is it’s half heavy cream and half whole milk so you can mix the two together if you don’t have half and half where you live
Use a half cup of heavy cream and a half cup of whole milk it’ll be their equivalent and now we’re just going to mix this up good and of course you want your cream to be good and cold so that cornstarch mixes up in there real good and doesn’t get lumpy
If you got a little whisk you can whisk it let’s stir this bacon and then we’ll be back when our potatoes get done and I’ll show you adding the cream this is so easy it’s such an easy dinner so we’re gonna get it in our pan right here
And we are about our timer’s about to go off 38 seconds look at our pretty golden bacon pretty and these should be good for going after 12 minutes you can Fork it and see just to be on the safe side it’s perfect they should just be nice
And soft and you should be able to just stick Fork right through them all right we’re gonna put about three tablespoons of butter in it and remember it’s got p remember it’s got the bullion in it and now we’re going to stir this really good
And get this in here and it’s going to thicken up so pretty so we got salt and pepper in here as well so there should be enough salt in it now I’m going to turn it up a little bit because you want this to get thick so
I’m going to turn the heat up so that cornstarch can thicken the soup and that better is melting in there it’s going to be so good y’all so that was cold half and half going in so that’s why you’re gonna have to turn it up just a little bit and as soon as
It comes to a boil it should get thick and it’s ready to eat that fast you can have this done peeled and owned the table in 30 minutes easy now when I eat potato soup I like to have a hunk of potato I bet you do too
Like this tiny little potatoes and I’m going to tell you you can buy potato soup all day but it ain’t gonna taste like this oh it’s good when you make it like this so we’re going to take it off the iron brand over here and I’m going to dip one plain potato soup
And then we’re gonna make one Deluxe potato soup I’m chopping up a little bit of green onion to go in one I don’t know if Chris wants it or not do you Chris uh yeah I’ll probably hit so we’re gonna dip one for Chris and one that’s gonna be Deluxe
You won’t Deluxe Chris or playing in this make the Delux yours okay all right we’re both getting a little green onion in ours and then I’m just gonna put some bacon in mine you sure you don’t want any bacon Chris I might get some I’ll see that too okay
And then you want cheese yes a little cheese and if you want to put sour cream in it you can but I’m gonna tell you it’s good it don’t really need it so I don’t want any sour cream I just got that out in case some of our sour cream nuts because
It’s already very creamy and delicious it’s nice and cheesy y’all cheesy creamy such comfort food on a cold night like tonight everybody’s temperatures are just ridiculously cold I’m gonna tell you there ain’t no better comfort food than a good old bowl of potato soup and
I can guarantee you that if you try mine and I’m not exaggerating and you put these extras with it it’ll be the best potato soup you’ve ever had promise just try all right and don’t change a thing don’t change a thing what’s good I’m gonna take some to the
